The Stony Brook School, a grade 7-12 Christian boarding school, is seeking a temporary on-call RN to cover week day overnights and full weekend coverage.This employee will report to the Director of Health and Wellness to triage student health concerns over the telephone and attend to student health needs on campus when indicated.
The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
On call 11pm-7am, Monday - Thursday when students are on campus, and On call 11 pm Friday - 7 am Monday when students are on campus
Triage: when contacted by The Stony Brook School, assess student needs by telephone.
Provide nursing guidance by phone when possible or assess student and provide care in person if required
Perform routine nursing procedures - health assessment, vital signs, medication administration, wound care, emergency care
Collaborate plan of care with Health Center Director
On site hours required Saturdays and Sundays for medication administration at 11 am, 6 pm, and 10 pm, or as required by medication schedule (minimum 1 hour on site) when students are on campus.
Experienced Registered Nurse with valid New York State license
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with teens and adults
Excellent organizational skills
Basic computer and office skills
