Olivia Kim ’24 was a presenter on “Saving the Deteriorating Marine Ecosystem” to over 1,000 attendees at the 2023 Junior Ocean Conference. The international conference is “an annual event held to raise awareness about climate and ocean environmental crises and to provide suggestions and practical solutions from teenagers.” Olivia’s work started in her hometown of Jeju Island, where she saw firsthand the harm of plastics and waste on the environment. She started an organization called Hello Ocean to raise awareness and address pollution. Olivia reflected on the conference, “It was a great opportunity to build connections with people who have the same passion and vision.”
