The SBS Upper School Robotics Team competed in the FIRST Robotics Long Island Regional Competition against 27 other teams on February 2. In order to compete, students were required to build a robot that could participate in tournament-style games against other teams across the island. After winning 2-1 in the semi-finals against a rival, local Stony Brook team, they rolled into the championship matches 2-0. In addition, students took home awards in all three engineering categories for Programming, Design, and Innovation. Most significantly they won the Inspire Award for the first time, which is the highest award given at these competitions!
March 7th is the Regional Championship where they will battle against the best on Long Island and attempt to repeat as Long Island Champions and represent Long Island at the World Championships in Detroit. Great job and best of luck, students!
