Anne Shybunko-Moore '89, recently testified before the U.S. House Committee on Small Business during a hearing recognizing America's 250 years of entrepreneurship
As owner and CEO of GSE Dynamics, a family-owned defense manufacturer based on Long Island, Anne joined business leaders from across the country to discuss the vital role small businesses play in strengthening the American economy, supporting national security, fostering innovation, and creating jobs.
During her testimony, Anne shared the story of GSE Dynamics, tracing its roots to Long Island's rich aerospace heritage. Founded by her father after his engineering career at Grumman Aerospace, the company has grown into one of the nation's leading woman-owned defense manufacturers.
Drawing on more than two decades of leadership in advanced manufacturing, Anne emphasized the importance of policies that enable small businesses to invest, hire, and compete. She encouraged lawmakers to continue supporting pro-growth tax policies, improve access to capital, strengthen workforce development initiatives, and reinforce the nation's defense industrial base through strategic investment in American manufacturing.
Responding to questions from committee members, Anne also highlighted the importance of mentoring women-owned businesses entering federal contracting, reducing unnecessary regulatory barriers, and maintaining strong partnerships between government agencies and small business manufacturers.
Her appearance before Congress serves as a testament to the influence Stony Brook alumni continue to have in business, government, and public service.
