It is no secret that being a Christian educator in the current moment is a wearing, scary task. We are thrust on the front lines and asked to solve cultural, familial, and generational problems, all while trying to make sure our students actually know math, science, and the arts!
Our hope is that this retreat offers a fresh, Christ-focused way to approach our calling. What would it mean if we weren’t being called to solve the world’s problems, but to serve the students we’ve been given as Christ would serve them? What would it mean to recognize that we were loved and served by Christ as we did this? If we were challenged by him as we did this?

Set on the campus of The Stony Brook School on beautiful long island, new york, this weekend will provide the spiritual refreshment you long for at the end of a busy school year.
Built on a century of spiritual greats and drawing from the practices and rhythms rooted in our Christian tradition, this retreat will be an opportunity to gather with other educators for times of teaching, worship, contemplation, and conversation.
THIS IS NOT A CONFERENCE… but a retreat of like-minded, Christian educators! Our desire is that this weekend allows you to encounter Jesus in light of the calling he has put on your life as an educator. In a way that challenges AND feeds and refreshes your heart and soul.
The retreat will be led by Andrew Barber, RUF Campus Pastor at Northwestern University and former SBS teacher along with Alicia Brummeler, author, teacher, and speaker. Space is intentionally limited for this retreat so we encourage you to register early.

The Holy Spirit and Christian Expierences by Simeon Zahl Life is a Miracle by Wendell Berry You Are |
So here's what I want you to do, God helping you; Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.
Im speaking to you out of deep gratitude for all that God has given me, and especially as I have responsibilities in relation to you. Living then, as everyone of you does, in pue grace, it's important that you not misinterpret yourselves as people who are bringing this goodness to God. No, God brings it all to you. The only accurate way to understand ourselves is by what God is and by what he does for us, not by what we are and what we do for him.
