Virtual Move-a-Thon

SBS VIRTUAL MOVE-A-THON

So much has disrupted the regular rhythm of life this year. Because of that, we are holding a Virtual Move-A-Thon—and we need your help! As a community let’s get moving and, in doing so, raise critical support for our beloved School!
 
WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?
Log as many miles as you can in the activity (or activities) of your choice. You can walk, run, row, bike, or anything you'd like! We encourage you to map out a course or goal—but the distance you go in that time is up to you!
 
WHEN IS IT?
June 1-15th

HOW DO I PARTICIPATE?
• Sign up as a participant
• Pay the entry fee ($25/pp, $100 per family)
• Join the event on our Facebook page to share, post photos, and update on your progress
•  Encourage your community to participate with you or donate in support of your efforts
 Get moving!
 

WHY ARE WE DOING THIS?
To support and invest in the SBS NEXT Annual Fund as we seek to continue the exceptional work of The Stony Brook School. Every dollar that we raise will go towards ensuring the safest and healthiest possible 2020-2021 School Year, which begins after June 30. Would you please thoughtfully consider investing in our future as we lead our School onward toward our 99th year of education and character development?
 
Registration is $25 per person, and $100 per family, and we encourage you to raise support from your community. Thank you for being an integral part of the SBS family!

    Do you need proof that I finished my run, walk, etc?
    No proof needed, just track your miles for your own purposes.

    Where can I (run, walk)?
    You can run, walk, bike, row, etc, in the comfort of your own home, in your neighborhood, or any place where you can practice social distancing.

    What if I can't go outside?
    You can find a way to be active in the comfort of your own home!

    How can I let others know I’m participating?
    Share the event on Facebook link or this webpage.

    What does the Move-a-thon support?
    The Move-A-Thon supports the SBS NEXT Annual Fund which provide the needed funds for continued investment in academics, curriculum development, ongoing funding for financial aid, upgraded security measures, professional development for faculty and staff, and so much more.

    Is there a minimum that I need to raise to participate?
    No, there is no minimum amount needed to raise. Your registration fee and/or donations are all greatly appreciated.

     
    How do I log my miles?
    You can log your miles manually or with a fitness tracker. This is for your personal records. Feel free to share your accomplishments on the Facebook event or email them to advancement@sbs.org. We would love to cheer you on!
     
    Can I just donate and not participate physically?
     
    Does everyone in my family have to walk the same amount of miles?
    No. You can set your own individual or family goals. 
     
    Will there be a winner selected?
    Everyone who participates is a winner! Move at your own pace. Set your own goals and help us reach ours!

    " I am participating in a virtual Move-A-Thon for The Stony Brook School from June 1st through June 15th. The School is encouraging the community to get up and move to raise critical support for the school! I can log miles by walking, running, biking, swimming, etc. My personal goal is to log _____ miles during the two week period. Please consider joining me in supporting SBS by registering to participate in the Move-A-Thon, or by donating to the school. 100% of the registration fees and donations will go to the SBS NEXT Annual Fund.
