Graduation 2021

Dear Parents and Class of 2021,

I am so pleased to inform you that The Stony Brook School is planning an in-person Prom, Senior Luncheon, Baccalaureate, and Commencement ceremony this May for our graduates—the 99th Commencing Class of The Stony Brook School! 
While we will need to make adjustments to keep with current New York State health and safety guidelines on COVID-19, we are grateful that we can have the opportunity to be together to celebrate these joyous occasions. We will continue to be flexible, prayerful and patient as we move forward with our planning. 
To our seniors that can’t be with us in-person: we are deeply saddened and disappointed that you can’t be with us to celebrate. It is our hope to find creative ways that will allow you to celebrate with us, even if it is not in-person. Please stay tuned for more information.

Baccalaureate Service

Outdoor Ceremony on campus for all seniors, ceremony will include the Senior Bible Presentation.

FRIDAY, MAY 28
 
Senior Prom

A formal event, held on the field at SBS, under a beautiful tent for all seniors.  
 
Event will include a promenade, a three course meal, DJ and dancing.

Outside guests or guests from other grades at SBS will not be able to attend.

SATURDAY, MAY 29
 
Ninety-Ninth SBS Commencement Exercises
Time TBD

Outdoor Ceremony and Diploma Presentation held on SBS Buyers Field.
 
At this time, seniors may invite up to two guests - but that is subject to change (either way). We know how important it is to have friends and family celebrate with you, and we will be watching New York State capacity guidelines closely.

Ceremony will be recorded and made available shortly after for streaming.

    GUESTS WITH DISABILITIES
    Guests requiring ADA permit parking are encouraged to display their permits upon arrival on campus. We have limited parking spaces close to Swanson Gymnasium.
     
    We would ask that you contact Jackie Mihaley at jackie.mihaley@sbs.org a week before Commencement so that we can make sure parking is available for those needing it.


    CONGRATULATIONS LEGACY GRADUATES!

    Legacy graduates share a proud heritage with generations of others whose parents, grandparents, or siblings also attended Stony Brook.

    Pictures of legacy families will be taken in front of Memorial Hall on Commencement Day. Please contact Jackie.Mihaley@sbs.org to schedule your family portrait!

    PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY

    A professional photographer will take a picture of each graduate immediately following the presentation of his/her diploma. The pictures will be made available for purchase.

    LIVE STREAMING

    For those family, friends and guests unable to attend in person, Commencement Weekend Events will be streamed live. Those links to view it will be posted as we get closer to the event.
