Grant `23 wins book contest

Stony Brook School senior, Amelia Grant ‘23, won Second Prize in the 10-12 grade category of the Three Village School District’s annual Helen Stein Shack Book Contest. Her picture book about a young Guatemalan girl who dreams of building a snowman, entitled Lily’s Snowman, earned her a cash award and the prestige of having her book available to borrow at the Emma S. Clark Memorial Library.

Said Amelia, “As a child, I loved hearing my mom tell me about the year she spent in Guatemala. I wanted to share some of this beautiful culture and language through my story.”

This is not the first time Amelia’s work has been published, as she and her sister, Anna ‘24, won first prize in last year’s contest.
