SB Global (Online)

SB Global: How to Apply

We want to thank you for your interest in applying to Stony Brook Global, our innovative online extension to our elite boarding and day school.  We look forward to working with you and your family as you embark on this exciting journey from inquiry to enrollment.

List of 5 items.

  • Step 1. Online Inquiry Form (Optional)

The first step in the SB Global application process is to inquire. If you have not already filled out our inquiry form electronically or in paper form we invite you to do so now by clicking here. Once you complete the inquiry form, we will add you to our database of prospective families.

If you are ready to jump right in and apply, you may skip this step and proceed to our online application.
  • Step 2. Online Application

You can start the SB Global application process HERE.

The application fees are as follows:
    Full Time Domestic: $75
    Full Time International: $150
    Part Time/Summer School: $50
    Dual Degree: $50

Please note that SB Global will provide a fee waiver for all students who have already paid an application fee for SBS or SB Global. Contact for details.

Should you want to start the school year in the fall as is typical here in the U.S., please follow our early and standard application deadlines as follows:

Early Decision: If SBGlobal is your first and only choice, and you are applying to our FULL TIME  program, we encourage you to apply as an Early Decision applicant.  All application materials must be received by the Admissions Office by Monday, December 14, 2020. You will receive a decision email on Friday, January 15, 2021.
    Standard Application:
If you miss this deadline, and are applying to the FULL TIME program, you are welcome to use our Standard Enrollment option which requires that all application materials be received by the Admissions Office by Monday, February 1, 2021. Decisions will be released via email on Friday, March 12, 2021.
    Rolling Admission (most typical):
Due to our unique educational model, utilizing intensive 1-at-a-time courses, our school year - as well as our application process - is rolling and you can enter at 7 different points throughout the year. Please see our Intensive Term dates below:
    Intensive Term 3: 11/2/20 - 12/18/20
    Intensive Term 4: 1/4/21 - 2/12/21
    Intensive Term 5: 2/15/21 - 3/26/21
    Intensive Term 6: 3/29/21 - 5/7/21
    Intensive Term 7: 5/10/21 - 6/18/21
    Intensive Term 1: 6/28/21 - 8/6/21
    Flex Start: Through 1/1/21
    Full Year Start: (8/30/21)

Applications must be submitted in completion no later than 2 weeks before the start of the term to give time for the admissions staff to review your application and provide you with a decision, contract and course registration before the start of your courses. We will be happy to advise you on the best term to apply for. Please include this question when you inquire
  • Step 3. Admissions Testing Score Reports

    Standardized Testing Optional
At this time, standardized testing (SSAT, ISEE, PSAT, SAT, ACT) IS NOT REQUIRED as a part of the application process. If you have any testing that you would like to submit via the parent portal, you will see the option to do so.
English Language Testing (For Non-Native English Speakers)
All applicants for whom English is not their first language are required to take an English language proficiency test. Our office prefers the TOEFL exam. When registering, please use the following code (8083) in order to send us the applicant's scores directly. Please note that our office does not accept TOEFL's MyBest Score

If the TOEFL is not available, international applicants can consider one of the following exams: IELTS, Cambridge, ELTiS, or Duolingo.

Even if the applicant has studied in the United States for several years or is currently attending an international school with an American or British curriculum, the student may still need to take a test. Please contact the Admissions Office at for further questions.

Please note that any applicant who is seeking learning accommodations with a 504 Plan or an IEP must submit a recent neuropsychological testing report or a psychoeducational testing report. This can be uploaded within the parent portal once you apply.
  • Step 4. Recommendation Forms

SB Global requires an English teacher recommendation and a math teacher recommendation from the current teacher (2020-2021 academic year). If your family will be applying for Early Enrollment, you may use recommendations from your child’s teachers from the 2019-2020 academic year.

All forms should be sent electronically through our parent portal. If school personnel experience any trouble sending these forms, please contact the Admissions Office ( or 631-751-1800 x1).
  • Step 5. Official School Reports and Transcripts/Report Cards

Each applicant must arrange for the Admissions Office to receive the following items:
    • Official School Reports/Transcript Form Release
    • Final report cards/transcripts from the previous two academic years
    • Report card/transcript for the current academic year, which should include grades from at least one marking period or one quarter

send all transcripts electronically through our parent portal.  Any questions or difficulties can be directed to the Admissions Office at
For International Applicants: If transcripts are in a foreign language, please include a notarized English translation.
Please note that neither financial aid nor merit based scholarships are currently available to those applying for SB Global.
