Chick-fil-A Leadership Academy students spent the day developing their leadership skills, writing heartfelt notes, and preparing 135 bag of books for children at the JUST KIDS school, where they'll serve and connect with students with special needs.
The Chick-fil-A Leadership Academy students who gave up their Saturday to grow serve others with open hearts.
The day began with a powerful Leadership Skill Training on “Awareness” led by Mr. Barbacena. Students explored how awareness is not only essential for leadership but also for everyday life.
Following the session, Ryan Gitto shared the inspiring story of JUST KIDS, the school his grandfather founded and continues to lead. What began as one school has now grown to 15 locations across Long Island, serving children from Pre-K through 2nd grade, including those with autism, physical disabilities, and those without disabilities.
We’re honored to have the opportunity to visit the Middle Island JUST KIDS School on Monday, October 27, where our students will personally hand out 135 “Bags of Books”, each including a handwritten note of encouragement. During the visit, students will also read to the children and lead arts and crafts activities designed to bring joy and connection.
After Ryan’s presentation, students got right to work, writing heartfelt notes for each bag, packing the boxes, and brainstorming creative project ideas for the upcoming visit. The collaboration, care, and sense of purpose in the room were truly inspiring.
Looking ahead, our next CFALA session will be held on Saturday, October 25. During that meeting, we’ll finalize our plans for the JUST KIDS trip, design our arts and crafts activities, and begin brainstorming our Spring Impact Project and December Community Service event.
Thank you again to all who participated for your energy, compassion, and leadership.
